Estimating
Our Approach
Estimating is our primary service offering, whether it is for the insurance industry through damage assessments, the construction industry through project estimating or as a legal aid to dispute resolution.

Over the years, we have developed and refined our own proprietary estimating system that remains flexible to accommodate any type of situation as opposed to strictly using a canned program. However, we do have extensive experience in applying RS Means Cost Data and the Xactimate software estimating systems in a project specific manner.

We believe that estimating should not be biased by outside influences that result in stating a higher or lower cost to achieve a desired result such as winning a bid or influencing the outcome of a claim. Our estimates are based on a specific and defined scope of work, schedule, and level of quality that is equitable for the given project or situation. In order to produce the most accurate estimate, each line item on our estimate is reviewed by the Team Leader (a senior estimator) for a reality check and adjusted with applicable impact factors.

Current Pricing and Productivity
As part of the estimate preparation, we research local and regional pricing and productivity trends through an analysis of current pricing levels for trade contractors, materials, and equipment, as well as the availability to perform and meet project schedules. When applicable, RSMeans Cost Data or Xactimate estimating software is utilized for the preparation of an estimate. These national estimating standards for the construction and insurance industries are adjustable for local market conditions and pricing.

Level of Estimate Detail
All of our estimates are built from the ground up, which addresses the requirements of each piece of the job separately and then adding them together through the process of project integration to form the total estimate. This approach allows our estimate to be broken down to any level of detail or summarized for comparison and analysis in any manner desired.
